A trip to France is often at the top of people's bucket lists, and if you enjoy design even a tiny bit, that getaway wouldn't be complete without a visit to one of the nation's most popular tourist attractions: the palace of Versailles. Well, soon enough, you'll be able to do one better and actually live like royalty, spending the night at the palace. Yes, really.

In spring 2020, the hotel company Airelles will open Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle, which will be a literal hotel inside the former residence of King Louis XIV, Forbes reported. Airelles is taking great care to ensure the design fits within the palace's 18th-century architecture, so each of its 14 rooms complements the existing landscape, rather than competes with it. (Because c'mon, this is the Palace of Versaille we're talking about—the design has to be top notch.) The Château isn't just a hotel—the company also partnered with French chef Alain Ducasse build a restaurant, and the property will feature a wellness center and indoor pool, so it's equipped with amenities befitting the palace's grandeur.

If you're heard whispers about this before, that's probably because the project has been in the works since 2011, but you'll be able to book your stay starting in December—yes, just a month and a half away from now! Rates haven't been revealed, but when booking becomes available, you'll be able to do so at Airelles.com.
